For history buffs, look no further than the home of the first permanent English settlement at Jamestown or take a trip to Colonial Williamsburg to be immersed in early American culture. Virginia is also home to a thriving arts community, with the Artisan Trail stretching the entire state. From the handcrafted guitars of the Southwest Virginia mountains to the coastal lowland paintings of the Eastern Shore and Chesapeake Bay, Virginia is teeming with one-of-a-kind works of art. This beautiful melting pot of culture, arts, history, and impressive landscapes makes Virginia a destination for travelers around the world.

Our Virginia clinicians enjoy rewarding work along with compensation competitive with private practice. OBs receive full medical, dental, vision and RX benefits, CME allowance, tail coverage, comprehensive leadership training, and access to an internal support network of more than 1,500 OB/GYN colleagues.

“Prior to joining OBHG, I spent time in the Navy, and then in a busy employed practice with a q2 call schedule. Though I enjoyed the variety of my practice and longstanding relationships with my patients, the burden of balancing the office, the OR, and labor and delivery was highly dissatisfying. More importantly, the schedule was starting to make me dislike what drew me into OB/GYN in the first place –delivering babies.

Fortunately, I was able to take advantage of an opening at Ob Hospitalist Group and reinvigorate my career while restoring my work-life balance. OBHG has allowed me to not only deliver babies, but also be the safety net for colleagues and participate in process improvement for an entire unit. Though different from relationships in the office, I have found building rapport with the patients very easy now because I have the time to sit down and actually talk to them. I can get heavily involved in academically interesting cases, again, because I have the time to do so on the unit.

Just as important as turning around my career satisfaction, the improvement in my work-life balance has also been extremely rewarding. I now work 6-7 shifts per month, and when I’m off, I am off. Everything is turned over to a colleague at the end of my shift, and I get to go home to my family. I now take my child to his activities and appointments, and also have time to do activities other than practice medicine. One year, for example, I had time to learn to pour concrete and rebuild my own porch – a far cry from my old life where I could not get through mowing the grass without my phone ringing.

Ob Hospitalist Group has opportunities that can help change your career track for the better. Imagine cutting out the most burdensome aspects of our specialty, and instead being able to focus on what attracted most of us to this line of work.  Now imagine doing that while also giving yourself more than 20 days a month to spend with family. I can think of no better way to do this job. Once I starting working with OBHG, I never looked back.”
