The maternal mortality rate is astonishingly high across the U.S., and the Council on Patient Safety in Women’s Health Care is doing something about it. In 2015, the Council developed the Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) to “eliminate preventable maternal mortality and severe morbidity across the United States.” Currently, there are 22 participating states, including Texas, which announced earlier this year that 166 hospitals were enrolled.
