Before joining Ob Hospitalist Group (OBHG), Dr. Donald Peghee dedicated nine years to solo private practice while balancing family life and his laborist job. “Even though I was impacting individuals as a laborist, I didn’t want to lose direct contact with my private practice patients,” he says.
Two years after joining OBHG, Dr. Peghee made the difficult decision to close his private practice. He now splits his time between Research Medical Center as a traditional OB hospitalist and Western Missouri Medical Center as a community OB clinician with Maternal Health Access Solutions. “For me, it’s a perfect combination of both roles,” he says.
His role continues to inspire his commitment to equity in women’s health. “As an African American male physician, there is a scarcity of role models like me in the community,” he explains.
“Working in a place where our services are deeply valued and appreciated has been a rewarding experience for all involved,” Dr. Peghee says.
