Carilion New River Valley Medical Center

The Birthplace at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center is committed to providing care to newborns, mothers and families through a multidisciplinary team approach. The Birthplace features private birthing suites designed so labor, delivery and recovery take place in the same room, along with modern amenities to ensure comfort and safety. To enhance newborn security, the center also uses CertaScan technology, which provides digital footprint imaging, secure photo storage and maternal fingerprint identification. Carilion New River Valley Medical Center has been named among the nation’s best for providing high-quality maternity care for uncomplicated pregnancies by U.S. News & World Report.

Fauquier Health

Fauquier Health, part of LifePoint Health, delivers approximately 450 births annually. Labor suites, private rooms with modern technology, soothing amenities and space for a support person, are available, and operating rooms are equipped and ready for planned and emergency C-sections. Fauquier Health also offers personalized midwifery support from certified nurse midwives as well as a Level II Intermediate Nursery. The 97-bed facility has a strong reputation, rated highly by U.S. News and World Report and the Leapfrog Group, and has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care.

Henrico Doctors' Hospital

Henrico Doctors’ Hospital is the largest delivery hospital in Richmond and currently provides about 4,500 annual deliveries. The facility has provided maternity services for 30 years, and is known for safe, supportive and evidence-based women's care.

The first in Virginia to earn The Joint Commission’s Perinatal Care Certification, Henrico Doctors' Women's Hospital also received the Labor and Delivery Excellence Award designated by Healthgrades™ - placing it in the top 10 percent of all hospitals evaluated for exceptional care of mothers during labor and delivery.

Inova Women's Hospital

Inova Women’s Hospital is part of an 833-bed medical campus. Inova Women’s Hospital is one of the busiest obstetrics programs in the Washington, D.C. metro area and is home to a level IV NICU, an antenatal testing center, a fetal care program for at-risk pregnancies and private labor-delivery rooms.

Johnston-Willis Hospital

Johnston-Willis Hospital is a 292-bed facility offering acute care and a surgical facility that has served the Richmond and Central Virginia community since 1909. It is home to a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a high-risk antepartum unit, private labor/delivery/recovery suites, and educational classes for new parents.

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center

Chesapeake Regional is an independent, community-focused system that provides high quality, technologically advanced health care. The facility offers several pain management options, breastfeeding classes, a lactation store and postpartum support. It is a Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center+ for Maternity Care, and was recognized as a Five-Star Recipient for Vaginal Delivery in 2017 and 2018, and a Five-Star Recipient for C-Section Delivery for the last three consecutive years.

Reston Hospital Center

Reston Hospital Center is a 187-bed acute care hospital that serves the Northern Virginia region and has been recognized by The Joint Commission as one of the Top Performers on Key Quality Measures™. It has private labor and birthing rooms, designated operating rooms for Cesarean sections, and maternity rooms. The hospital is home to a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is a 176-bed, all-private-room facility with more than a century of history in Charlottesville, offering specialized care in maternity, cardiac, cancer, and neurology, including a Level II Special Care Nursery for newborns needing extra attention. The hospital was named among the nation's best maternity hospitals in a 2025 Newsweek ranking, and Sentara Healthcare overall has multiple facilities earning 4- and 5-star CMS ratings and Leapfrog "A" and "B" safety grades.

Sentara RMH Medical Center

Sentara RMH Medical Center currently sees approximately 1,800 annual deliveries and 3,000 annual triage visits. Sentara RMH Medical Center has been awarded the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital for Maternity Care (2022-23). The hospital provides spacious, private rooms, low intervention birthing suites, whirlpool tubs, multiple pain-relieving options, Caesarean birth operating room, and daily consults with lactation specialists.

Southside Regional Medical Center

Southside Regional Medical Center, part of the Catholic Bon Secours system, is a 300-bed facility located on a 50-acre campus with nearly 400 physicians representing more than 40 specialties. It currently sees about 1,800 annual deliveries.

The hospital serves the Richmond, VA area including the communities of Petersburg, Hopewell, Colonial Heights, Fort Lee and Chester. Southside Regional serves as a center for both learning and practicing innovative medicine, with three professional schools on the campus and seven satellite outpatient centers. It offers state-of-the-art labor and delivery rooms, specialty care for newborns, private family suites, certified nurse-midwife services and doula-trained nurses, lactation consultants and birthing classes.

Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center

Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center is a community hospital with 133 beds that offers acute care, a surgical facility and provides a full range of integrated women’s health services. It has been designated as an AAGL Center of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Gynecology. The hospital houses a Level II NICU, and offers prenatal care, birthing specialists and mammogram services.

St. Francis Medical Center

St. Francis Medical Center is a 130-bed, full-service acute care and surgical center. It has served the Midlothian community since 2005. The hospital is home to private birthing suites and postpartum rooms, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and maternal-fetal medicine services for patients with high-risk pregnancies.

St. Mary's Hospital

St. Mary's Hospital, part of the Bon Secours system, has served Central Virginia since 1966. It was the first community hospital in Richmond to achieve Magnet® Recognition by the American Nurses Credentialing Center for nursing excellence, and Healthgrades ranked St. Mary's among the Top 5% of hospitals in the nation for emergency medicine and critical care.

The birthing center, which has repeatedly been voted the “Best Place in Richmond to Have a Baby” by Style Magazine, houses a NICU staffed with onsite neonatologists 24/7. The hospital also includes a dedicated pediatric emergency department, pediatric hospitalists, and a PICU along with a variety of pediatric subspecialty services. St. Mary’s is a member of The National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI).

StoneSprings Hospital Center

StoneSprings Hospital Center is a full-service care medical and surgical facility that serves residents in Loudoun County. A member of the HCA Healthcare System, it performs about 900 deliveries annually. The hospital provides midwifery services, welcomes and supports private doula care, and offers a range of courses covering childbirth, infant care and breastfeeding.

Winchester Medical Center

Winchester Medical Center is a non-profit 445-bed regional referral center offering a broad spectrum of services that includes diagnostic, medical, surgical, and rehabilitative care. It is a Level II Trauma Center, and the hospital serves 400,000 residents plus neighboring West Virginia and Maryland. In 2012, the hospital completed a $161 million campus expansion project which expanded emergency services, added intensive care unit beds, and provides an intimate healing environment for families and newborns using the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. The hospital is rated among the top five hospitals in Virginia by U.S. News & World Report.
