Dr. Shannon Bailey, an OBHG hospitalist at Overlake Hospital Medical Center and Harrison Medical Center was recently named secretary of the Washington State section of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). She will serve two years in this capacity and eventually move up to president and then the state legislative representative for ACOG.
According to OBHG Medical Director of Operations Dr. Amy VanBlaricom, Dr. Bailey’s passion is legislation dealing with maternal mortality. “Anyone who knows Dr. Bailey can see how passionate she is about healthcare for women. She exudes this energy and works tirelessly to advance this care and work locally, and now at a state and national level to ensure that healthcare for women is protected across our country,” said Dr. VanBlaricom.
“I am honored and thrilled to be selected for Washington State ACOG secretary for the next two years,” said Dr. Bailey. “This is my second year working with our legislative ACOG congressional leadership committee at both the state and national level to pass legislation to fund our state maternal mortality research. I am passionate about quality and safety and I feel that OBHG is incremental in reducing both maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality nationwide. I could not be prouder of the work of all providers at OBHG.”
We congratulate Dr. Bailey on her appointment!
