First Partnership in Ohio with Mercy Medical Center | OBHG

Ohio NewState blogOb Hospitalist Group is pleased to announce that we are entering the Ohio market! We are excited to be partnering with Mercy Medical Center in Canton to develop our first obstetrical emergency department in the state.

Mercy Medical Center is a designated Anthem BlueCross BlueShield BlueDistinction Center for Maternity Care and the only Three Star Hospital in Stark County recognized by the state’s First Steps for Healthy Babies program.

The hospital has taken a leadership role in infant mortality prevention through community outreach and safe sleep training for mothers. It’s a level II facility prepared to handle all mother-baby emergencies, with a special care nursery and neonatology on call around the clock. It also offers maternal-fetal specialists, childbirth education classes, and comprehensive family-centered maternity care.

Canton, located approximately 60 miles south of Cleveland and 20 miles south of Akron, lies on the edge of Ohio’s extensive Amish country.

The city is the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame – which honors players through permanent and traveling exhibitions – and the birthplace of the National Football League, and is located in the area known as Ohio’s golf capital. Residents and visitors enjoy popular wineries, breweries and unique local restaurants. Families and outdoor enthusiasts delight in Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the extensive network of trails that cover the Northeast Ohio region.

The city also offers many national historic sites, art museums, galleries and public art, theaters, live music, concerts and festivals anchored by its thriving downtown arts district.

OBHG hospitalists enjoy full-time positions with competive compensation, full medical benefits, paid malpractice insurance with tail, CME allowance, 401k employer match, phenomenal physician support, and superior work/life balance that includes flexible scheduling and an average of 20 days off per month.

Leadership training and advancement opportunities are available – along with fewer shifts, no on-call duty (when you’re off, you’re off!) and minimal administrative burdens.
