As part of a new series, FAQs with OBHG, our teams met with clinicians to address common misconceptions about working as a hospitalist with Ob Hospitalist Group (OBHG). For more than a decade prior to her career with Ob Hospitalist Group (OBHG), Dr. Lisbeth McKinnon worked in private practice as an OB/GYN. Now, she’s approaching 10 years with OBHG. Dr. McKinnon has held many roles including OB hospitalist, Site Director, and Market Medical Director. Here, she discusses the differences in responsibilities between working as an OB/GYN in private practice and working as an OB hospitalist with OBHG.
“You have one singular focus, unlike private practice. You are really just there to take care of your patients, so you can focus on that. You don’t have other distractions. I really feel like I can focus on my patients. You won’t be taking patient phone calls, you won’t be responding to emails, so you’ll be able to take that time and spend with your patients.”
