NBC Winston-Salem, NC: Forsyth Medical Center opens emergency department for expecting mothers

OBHG's hospital partner, Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC, was recently featured in a video news story on WXII12.com, Winston-Salem's NBC-affiliate station. Forsyth Medical Center partnered with OBHG to launch an obstetrics emergency department in mid-2019.

"When a pregnant patient comes to the OB-ER they can expect to be seen by an obstetrician who's familiar with complications of pregnancy and to have that service in a timely manner," said Dr. Lewis Lipscomb.

Anne Smith, director of women's and children's health, said the new service will give expecting mothers much needed comfort and peace of mind. "So it's really the speed of being able to be seen quicker, but it's also not being exposed, particularly now in flu season, with infectious disease," Smith said. "We're very much focused in on the mom and the baby and ensuring you have a remarkable experience here."
