25 News: OB-GYN supports CDC's health advisory for pregnant women to get vaccinated

OBHG’s Dr. Denise Vilchez Cardenal (site director at OBHG’s St. Lucie Medical Center OB hospitalist program) was featured on WPBF 25 News West Palm Beach discussing her support of the CDC health advisory for pregnant women to get vaccinated.

“I was vaccinated at 31 weeks in December of 2020 when the vaccine first came out and initially, of course, because we didn’t have much information on the vaccine, it was not an easy decision to make," said Vilchez Cardenal. "But it was the absolute best decision that I could have made for myself and for my baby. He is a healthy eight-month-old, meeting all milestones, has not gotten the virus and I have not gotten it either, and I am constantly exposed in the line of work that I do.”

“Now, we have so much more prospective data and there have been absolutely no pregnancy-related safety concerns with the vaccine and there has been no evidence of any adverse effects for mother or for baby after getting vaccinated against COVID-19.”
