Northridge

Northridge, CA is in Los Angeles County but is not in the Los Angeles city limits. It is in a very large valley located just north of Los Angeles called the San Fernando Valley.

The Los Angeles Unified School District serves Northridge. It is the second largest school district in the US after New York City.  There are 191 magnet schools within the district as well as 19 private schools in Northridge alone and many more in the surrounding areas. 

California State University, Northridge, or CSUN, part of the California State University system, offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in several disciplines. The school is a major producer of K12 teachers in the region and the nation as a whole. CSUN also has highly regarded engineering, business, and film programs.

The Recreation Center is located in Northridge. It has an indoor gymnasium, barbecue pits, a lighted baseball diamond, lighted indoor basketball courts, lighted outdoor basketball courts, a children’s play area, a community room, picnic tables, a lighted soccer field, and lighted tennis courts. The Northridge Pool, on the recreation center grounds, is an outdoor heated seasonal pool.

There are several nearby parks featuring scenic hiking trails with panoramic views. Porter Ridge Park is a great place to shoot hoops, have a picnic, or play at the playground. There’s a beautiful view of the city making it a perfect place to relax. This park is referred to E.T. Park by the locals as parts of the film were filmed here. Aliso Canyon Park is adjacent to an equestrian arena and hiking trails are people, dog and horse friendly.
